The exact cause of breast cancer is not known. Any woman aged 20 and above is at risk of getting breast cancer. The following factors may increase a woman's risk of developing breast caner:
- Increasing age
- Family history of breast cancer
- Early onset of menstruation (before age 12) or late menopause (after age 50)
- Childless or giving birth to first child after age 30
- Diet high in animal fats
